An American university officially employs a hunting dog. He serves as Director of Positive Attitude at People.
The dog’s responsibilities include adding joy to the basketball team’s practices, providing emotional support, or simply being a comforting presence. Charlie, a 2-year-old Golden Retriever, is officially the cheerleader for the Montclair State University women’s basketball team in New Jersey.
The site’s description of Charlie reads: “With a heart of gold as big as his fur, Charlie is known for his infectious enthusiasm, tail-wagging motivation and ability to lift morale both on and off the field. Whether he’s bringing joy to the team’s practices, providing emotional support, or simply offering a comforting presence, Charlie is a beloved member of the team. “He loves basketball and all of our student-athletes and staff.”
Charlie became a real college mascot. It was also noted that the appointment of a four-legged employee attracted media attention to the university.
We previously wrote that scientists divide dog owners into three types. Read more here.
