Chad Stahelski, the director of John Wick, was quite angry about the series. Sometimes obstacles appeared in seemingly small things.
A real conflict arose between the producers and the director at the stage of agreeing on the image of John Wick. The truth is that movie moguls aimed to attract people to the cinema with the classic Reeves image. This means no beards. But Stahelski relied on the originality of the universe and Wick himself. And it had to be different from the rest.
“On the first day of filming, Keanu had a beard. When they saw the footage shot by cinematographer Jonathan Sela in his signature style, they absolutely loved it,” Stahelski recalled in an interview with Business Insider.
This year the film completes its 10th anniversary. During this time, four episodes of John Wick have been released, and the fifth is in preparation. Additionally, the universe is expanding with two spin-offs, one of which released on June 5, and the second of which is in development.
