Everyone now associates the name Ralph Fiennes with Voldemort, a character from Harry Potter. But Fiennes was far from the first to play the role of the dark wizard.
Atonement star James McAvoy could be playing the role of young Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, he revealed on an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. However, the actor’s agent Ruth Young dissuaded him from taking on the project because one of the terms of his contract was that he refused to participate in other projects for six months.
“In the first movie… What’s his name, Tom Riddle? Basically, he showed up in some kind of flashback or something. I got through the casting, got offered crazy money and a fixed contract, and I barely had to do anything. There were 10 of us actors, and we were given contracts that forbade us from shooting anywhere else,” the actor admitted.
Meanwhile, HBO recently launched a casting call for children to play the lead roles in a series set in the Harry Potter film universe.
