The Gotham Film and Media Institute today named applicants for scholarships under the Gotham EDU Career Development Program this summer.
The Gotham Scholarships will enable young people from media underrepresented groups to expand their classroom learning skills and apply them to hands-on careers in media and entertainment. The first is the Questlove Gotham EDU Scholarship, supported by iHeartMedia, which will allow BIPOC students interested in audio storytelling to attend a professional development program without studying.
Then there are MTV Entertainment Group’s Joel Schumacher and Sophia Cranshaw Scholarships, now in their second year, which allow college members of the BIPOC community and those identified as LGBTQ + to watch the show for free. In addition to tuition, Schumacher / Cranshow Scholars are enrolled in the MTV Ambassador program, which includes paid internships.
This year’s professional development program will provide a comprehensive overview of specific sectors of the film and media industries to two cohorts of 14 students. During the six-week program, students will participate in interactive workshops, peer meetings and discussions, and mentoring sessions with industry professionals, including screenwriters, screenwriters, executives, producers and distributors of screenplays and documentaries. , the television and audio industry.
“We are so grateful to iHeartMedia and MTV Entertainment Networks for supporting our latest class of EDU developers,” said Kate Carvalho, CEO of Gotham EDU.
