A London resident discovered an incredible discovery in his garage. Before leaving, he decided to put things in order and stumbled upon literal masterpieces – a collection of etchings by Salvador Dali. According to the Hansons auction house website, the works, signed by the artist, have been there for half a century.
The collection of ten prints was purchased at a local gallery sale in the 1970s for $600. They now plan to sell them at auction for 10 times the price. The man found five lithographs by the artist Theo Tobias, as well as works by Salvador Dali.
Chris Kirkham, an antiques expert and assistant director of auction house Hanson, described the find as “astonishing” and “surreal.” The previous owner of the house had planned to frame the prints and decorate them, but never did so, storing works by Dali and Tobias in the garage.
The entire collection will be put up for auction on September 30. It can be sold for about $ 5 thousand (457.2 thousand rubles). Note.).
It was previously known that Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies” would be put up for auction. Read about it here.
