Wednesday star Jenna Ortega appears to have found a new friend on the set of Beetlejuice. It was the legendary Winona Ryder.
In an interview with The New York Times podcast The Interview, Ortega shared her impressions of working on the sequel to the 1988 film Beetlejuice. The 21-year-old actress was certainly lucky to work with old-school actors. She cited Winona Ryder as her main mentor.
“She was so warm, kind and welcoming! At first I felt like I had entered someone else’s life and didn’t know how to get back into my own. Winona understood me when others didn’t and made me feel so very beautiful and special,” the girl said about her on-screen mother. The actress also noted that they were both completely in love with the cinema and always had something to talk about.
By the way, it turns out that the feeling is mutual. Winona Ryder also spoke publicly about her friendship with Jenna Ortega. “I’ve never been as attached to anyone as I am to Jenna. It’s just crazy,” she told Screen Rant. The actress added that she sees a younger version of herself in her colleague, but Jenna is a thousand times cooler.
