We tested this anti-addiction app that promises to free us from social networks

You compulsively open Tiktok, Instagram as soon as you have a free second. Does this mean something to you? Is it difficult to control yourself? We totally agree. Two of my colleagues use the One sec app. What if I went there? What if we all went there?

I found out during our last live broadcast on Twitch that my dear colleagues were using an app to better control their social media consumption. I limit myself to usage time limits, when I exceed my two hours of Insta, a notification tells me that I am close to the limit. But I admit that this is certainly not a deterrent. I am addicted? This is a question I ask myself often.

According to Professor Laurent Karila, psychiatrist at the Paul-Brousse hospital (AP-HP) and professor of drug addiction at the University Paris-Saclay, interviewed by The Parisianaddiction, manifests symptoms that are summarized with the acronym “5C”: loss of control, compulsive use, craving (uncontrollable impulse), chronic use and finally consequences on one’s life. If you make this observation for more than a year there is no doubt.

Reducing the use of networks, yes, but how?

So what is it? A momentThis app that frees the Gen Z social media. It’s very simple, A moment forces you to take a great inspiration every time you open your apps. And it seems we reduce our use of social networks without even realizing it. You, like me, perhaps automatically open your apps when you have a free second: while waiting for the bus, in line at the supermarket, at the traffic lights…

Ariane is quite happy with the result, she tells me: «It basically raises awareness of social media usage. It allows me to open Insta only when I have something specific to do (view an account, reply to a message, etc.).
I’ve only had this app for a week and I’ve gone from opening 20 a day to opening 5 a day.
Same story with Soifia. “I go on TikTok much less compulsively, it makes me feel good.” And what do you think?
