The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova announced the completion of the epidemiological investigation of the mass infection of botulism in Moscow and other regions of our country. According to her, the reason for the emergence of the disease in June was a violation of all rules and technologies for the preparation of bean salad.
Popova noted that all the victims were poisoned by the same pathogen. The head of the department announced that 417 people in 11 regions of the country were infected with botulism, two of whom died. Anna Yuryevna added that this level of morbidity has not occurred since the mid-90s.
In addition, the investigation revealed that the beans used in the salad were delivered only to the address “Kitchens in the District” in Moscow. Popova noted that the enterprise has 84 distribution points and two preparation workshops, of which only one is registered.
TASS quotes Anna Yuryevna: “The second workshop, where everything happened, worked without notification, no one knew about it, it was not included in the records and, of course, was not subject to any control and supervision measures.” It was determined that the salads were delivered to 2,882 addresses.
