But why are we so tired when it’s finally summer and we should have more energy to take advantage of the (very short) summer period. Yes, it’s already July 9th. What makes us tired? The approaching holidays and the prospect of a break? A busy schedule? What if our diet is to blame? An article from the site Study results offers some interesting insight. And for good reason: There are many foods that we associate with “better energy” but can actually cause more harm than good in the long run.
Energy drinks
Red Bull, Powerade, and Monster are some of the most popular energy drinks on the market. They all contain caffeine, but they also contain other elements, such as sugar, high doses of B vitamins, and amino acids such as taurine. Of course, these drinks can help you right now if you are feeling down. Although there are sugar-free brands, many energy drinks are high in sugar, which rapidly increases blood sugar levels and provides some energy before causing a drop in blood sugar which again exhausts your body. If you drink energy drinks, try to find one without sugar..

The sweets
Cookies, candies, pastries, so many stimulants that make you feel good in the moment and can give you a boost, at most for 1 or 2 hours. But like energy drinks, these foods are rich in carbohydrates and increase your blood sugar level very quickly. Blood sugar imbalances are the leading dietary cause of unstable energy levels. So it is not ideal to opt for sweets rich in sugar that promote addiction. Yes, it is less fun, but fruit and dairy products will be much more effective.
Diet isn’t the only reason for low energy levels. Stress, sleep, and other factors play a role in fatigue. However, it may be worth examining your diet if you eat a lot of ultra-processed foods or consume too many energy drinks or sweets.
