Which series creator will have the difficult task of adapting JK Rowling’s books for the Max streaming platform? This February 1st, Expiration revealed that Warner Bros. has narrowed the list of finalists to three names and confirmed one: Francesca Gardiner, who is none other than the screenwriter of Succession.
Three possible showrunners
Last month, Expiration revealed that four other writers were being considered to adapt Harry Potter for the small screen. The names of Martha Hillier (The last kingdom)Kathleen Jordan (Teenage Bounty Hunters), Tom Moran (The Devil’s Hour) and Michael Leslie (The Hunger Games: The Rime of the Serpent and the Songbird) have been cited, in addition to that of Francesca Gardine. American or British, all these authors have distinguished themselves in the adaptation of the works of science fiction and fantasy.
Expiration revealed that these writers had been commissioned by Max to develop proposals for reflection their vision of the universe Harry Potter serial. It is currently unknown which other candidates are still in the running.
Consulting Producer on Succession, Killing Eve and His Dark Materials
Gardiner was a consulting producer on seasons 3 and 4 of the phenomenon series Succession, recently emerged from the Emmy Awards with no fewer than six nominations. Before working on the Jesse Armstrong series, she was an executive producer on the HBO and BBC fantasy co-production, His Dark Materialsand co-executive producer of Kill Eve from the AMC.
Expiration also reported that HBO and Warner Bros were considering making the series a collaboration between several authors. Furthermore, the makers have revealed this the variation of the magical universe in multiple series was not excluded. Finally, the American media confirmed that the transphobic author JK Rowling would be mentioned in the credits of the series as a producer. The writer at the origin of the saga would also have been present judge the proposals of the various competing authors.
