The response from the Municipality of Paris was not long in coming. Less than twenty-four hours after publication by Mediapart of an investigation report by the General Inspectorate of Education, of which the private institute Stanislas is accused “drifts” and of “intolerable speeches” on homosexuality, the city of Paris has announced that it will temporarily suspend the funding that is normally granted to it.
In its press release, the municipality specifies that this decision has been made “as a precaution, pending the clarifications requested by the State”. Homophobic, anti-abortion and sexist comments
Renowned for being one of the most selective in Paris, the Stanislas establishment, located in the heart of the 6th arrondissement of the capital, is highlighted for several shortcomings in the thirty-page report.
Among the most problematic elements is the obligation for all students to follow one hour of Catholic education per week, while normally in private Catholic institutions affiliated with the State this must be optional.
