The family of blogger Valeria and Artem Chekalin paid all taxes and penalties in full. But another case of legalization of ownership continues to be investigated. This was announced by the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“They (Chekalins – Ed.) pleaded guilty to tax evasion, fully compensated for tax debts, penalties and fines in the amount of 504 million rubles. Criminal prosecution for tax evasion has been suspended,” notes Alexander Bastrykin.
Meanwhile, the investigation of another case against him continues, although the court no longer has any claims against Lerchek after paying the taxes. We are talking about the legalization of illegally acquired property. Details are not yet known.
Let us also remind you that in March 2023, a group of security forces came to search the bloggers’ house. Luxury cars, jewelry, US passports, as well as Russian foreign passports were found on the territory of the mansion. At the same time, a criminal case was filed against the bloggers for tax evasion and money laundering. As a preventive measure, the court banned Lerchek from using the Internet, mail and other types of communication.
