Almost every second person dreams of a career in the fashion industry. While some want to remove Bella Hadid and Vittoria Ceretti from Olympus, some dream of taking the place of Daniel Lee and Mathieu Blasi, and for some, Anna Wintour’s seat will be enough. But the world of fashion is not just about glitz, luxury and bright camera flashes. These are also scandals, intrigues and (let’s not be afraid of this word) investigations.

Almost every month, the industry and its leading representatives face disasters of various sizes: from mass layoffs and accusations of greenwashing to aggressive (for some) advertising campaigns and falling sales.

However, murders and tragic deaths are also added to these. We agree that they are not the most frequent guests in this area (fortunately), but they are very memorable. Today we decided to remember the five most famous murders in the fashion world.

Gianni Versace

Even people far from the fashion industry know about the murder of Gianni Versace. And all thanks to the attention of directors, writers and screenwriters. Many films, books, articles and even TV series are dedicated to what happened on July 15, 1997. And not documentary, but artistic. For example, in the second season of American Crime Story, Penelope Cruz plays Gianni’s sister Donatella.

But back to the murder and the mysticism surrounding it. On the morning of July 15, 1997, the designer went to buy a new newspaper (although his assistant usually did this). As Versace was climbing the stairs of his house, two gunshots were heard. Both bullets hit the target directly. An ambulance arrived a few minutes later, but the designer could not be saved. So who is the killer? According to the official version, it was serial maniac Andrew Cunanan who shot himself with the same pistol a few days after the crime. However, some believe that the Italian mafia was involved in these cases. At one point they even said that the designer owed them a large amount of money. True, this version has not been confirmed in any way.

Maurizio Gucci

Another high-profile murder occurred on March 27, 1995. And in this case, the culprit was not the maniac, but ordinary jealousy that got out of control. If you’ve seen the movie “The House of Gucci” you probably know what it’s about. After asking for a divorce from Patrizia Reggiani, heiress of the Gucci fashion house, and going to her young mistress, Patrizia Reggiani hired a hitman to kill her husband and the father of her children. So, on a fateful March day, three shots were fired as Maurizio approached his office in Milan. And yes, everyone hit the target. Gucci died at the scene.

As for the killer, he was only imprisoned two years later when the murderer Ivano Savioni confessed to carrying out Patricia’s orders. During interrogation, it was revealed that Reggiani did not act alone, but with a psychic friend whom the spirits told to kill Gucci. As a result, Patricia was sentenced to 26 years in prison. True, he was released early for good behavior after 18 years.

Dorothy Stratten

1970s sex symbol Dorothy Stratten was born and raised in a poor area on the outskirts of Vancouver. But one meeting changed everything. The future model was noticed by photographer Paul Snyder when she was only 17 years old. It was he who persuaded Stratten to send photos to Playboy magazine. Since Dorothy was still a minor, her mother’s signature had to be forged. The joke, as they say, was successful. A year later, Dorothy moved to Los Angeles, became Playboy’s girl of the month, and even starred in Hollywood movies. She also reportedly married the same photographer, Paul Snyder, at her own expense and was very jealous. It’s no wonder their marriage didn’t last long. In 1980, Dorothy went to director Peter Bogdanovich. Snyder couldn’t forgive her for this – he raped and murdered her on August 14, 1980. And then she committed suicide.

Ossie Clark

Few people know about British designer Ossie Clarke these days. But during the time when London was shaking, literally everyone knew about him. It was Ossie who created a satin top for actress Marsha Hunt, a snake-print jacket for Twiggy, and even the famous velvet jumpsuits for Mick Jagger. In general, a legend. Manolo Blahnik said about him: “He created incredible magic with the body and achieved what fashion is supposed to do: create desire.”

The tragedy occurred on August 6, 1996. Diego Cogolato, a 28-year-old Italian who was a close friend of the designer, inflicted multiple stab wounds on the designer in his own apartment. Ossie Clark died at the scene. And the murderer was sentenced to 6 years in prison.

Ruslana Korshunova

Ruslana Korshunova is one of the brightest models of the 2000s. Her wonderful career began when the girl was only 16 years old. That’s when a representative of the large Model 1 agency noticed Ruslana and offered her a contract she. A year later (in 2005) she was named one of the main modeling discoveries and was called the Russian Rapunzel. Meanwhile, at the same time, the iconic commercial for Nina Ricci perfume appeared on the screens; here Ruslana, in a soft pink ballgown, picks up apple-shaped perfume from a tree. Do you remember this?

However, what happened next shocked everyone. In 2008, at the height of her career, Ruslana fell from the window of her Manhattan apartment. The police immediately decided it was suicide. But not everyone believes this version. Firstly, the model did not leave a suicide note, secondly, the janitor claims that Korshunova’s hair was cut (she told the police about this many times), and thirdly, the distance between the building and the body was too large. The model also visited the Rose of the World training center for a long time. Many believe that it was representatives of this organization who drove him to suicide. There are numerous versions of what happened: some claim that Korshunova was killed by a psychopathic maniac, others believe that she was driven away because of money, and still others tend to believe that she could not stand it.

Let’s be friends?
