A new argument breaks out, with Frankie Boyle criticizing Ricky Gervais for calling himself “a stand-up”.

Social media seas were once again divided in Britain at the weekend when two armies rallied behind their favorite controversial comedians Frankie Boyle and Ricky Gervais.

Following Gervais’ latest stand-up special Armageddon BBC Scotland, which landed on Netflix on Christmas Day, aired a clip of Boyle in action on his turn in 2020, which includes an epic takedown of his comic contemporary.

Gervais’ new special features some jokes about those who identify as male or female, prompting Boyle’s fans to boo the Scottish comedian who denies it and so…

He told the live audience: “Ricky Gervais does maybe 15 minutes where he says, ‘If a trans woman can say she’s a woman, I can say I’m a chimp.’ I’m a chimpanzee.’

“My answer to that is that it doesn’t get much weirder than Ricky Gervais saying he’s a stand-up comedian.

“We know Ricky Gervais, he’s a brilliant actor, a brilliant writer, he’s not a stand-up comedian. Just because RG identifies as a stand-up comedian, should I say he is too? It’s political correctness gone fucking crazy.”

He continued:

“I saw the whole Ricky Gervais show. I feel as if Fred Astaire saw a man with calipers fall from an escalator.”

Both men caused a stir in their time with their humor, with many on social media again calling out Boyle for his hypocrisy, while others pointed out that Boyle punches the air while Gervais punches the ground.

In December 2020, Boyle confronted Gervais on the same issue, saying in an interview: “I saw his routine about transgender people and I thought it was very nasty.”

At the time, Gervais responded on X (formerly known as Twitter) where he posted: “I look down on everyone equally.”
