Officials at a nearby university hospital said a 10-year-old girl and a 66-year-old woman were being treated at the hospital and were in critical condition. Most of the injured were taken to Ulvade Memorial Hospital.

Abbott told reporters that the assailant, whom he identified but did not give a deadline, fell from the truck and entered the school with a pistol and possibly a shotgun.
