To understand how much they earned, the publication first evaluated the house, which was located in one of Chicago’s most prestigious areas, according to a real estate search site.

According to them, the McCallisters spent no more than 30% of their income on real estate. Experts also noted that such a mansion could be owned by families whose annual income was 305 thousand dollars in 1990 and 665 thousand dollars in 2022 (28 million rubles and 60 million rubles, respectively, at the current exchange rate).

The set designer said in a conversation with the publication that the McCallister family custom furnished the house to look “elegant,” but at the same time, he wouldn’t really call the interior “expensive.”

It is important to note that the professions of Kevin’s parents are not mentioned in the film. The internet believes Kate could be a fashion designer because we’ve seen the models at home on more than one occasion, and Peter could also be a businessman. It should be noted that this decision was also made by Todd Strasser, the author of three novels based on the scripts of the Home Alone movie. According to the author, Kevin’s parents never had to seriously consider where they got the money.
