On average, we need at least 7 hours of sleep to avoid feeling tired during the day. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. Forced insomnia or a sleepless night after an evening of partying… Some nights are more difficult than others. According to data communicated by Ameli, in 2017, 16.9% of women suffered from chronic insomnia compared to 9.1% of men. Does this happen to you regularly too? Know that there is a solution to help you stay on track the next day and you definitely won’t like this one…
Physical exercise: THE solution to limit fatigue
Second a small studio conducted by scientists from the University of Portsmouth, on 24 participants, 20 minutes of moderate intensity cardiovascular exercise (the study specifically talks about cycling) would allow you to cope with a sleepless night. But why ? Dr. Joe Costello, of the department Sport, health and physical sciencesexplains this sudden improvement: “We know from existing research that exercise improves or maintains our cognitive performance”. In essence, it allows the brain to oxygenate and improve its performance so as not to find itself completely lost in work or carrying out the smallest task.

But what type of exercise can we perform in these cases?
A another study From British Journal of Sports Medicine, validates this theory. In your opinion, 22 minutes of daily exercise would help counteract the effects of a sedentary lifestyle. But which sport can be practiced in the city or in the countryside in an accessible and easy way? In the first study, participants rode bicycles. But it is absolutely possible to practice yoga, pilates, dancing or even simply walk at a brisk pace! The main ? Move to oxygenate your body.
You know what you need to do next time you don’t sleep all night!
