Spoiled kibble The last mercenary to Netflix, which subsequently received a total of five million views.
“There is an audience for these films in the United States. They just never get into theatrical distribution because American distributors are more interested in art or genre films,” says Albou.
The Comedy Club shows are in line with Albou and Schonberg’s larger American ambitions to break into the US, with a focus on remake activity and transferring their knowledge of European film sales to the US indie market.
“We want to position ourselves as producers or executive producers, which makes it much more interesting than just selling the films,” says Albou.
“We believe we are in a good position to acquire French equipment that we then build in the United States. Now that the strike is over and projects can finally move forward, there is a huge need for content.”

Albou and Schonberg want to combine their knowledge of international sales with American financing methods.
“We believe this will help expand our business to more international projects that we need to expand beyond our French boutiques.”
The French Comedy Club is open on December 2nd and 3rd.
