Fashion and virtual reality: my experience in Murcia’s Mediterranean catwalk

I’ve been to Murcia several times to work for different reasons, running catwalks, pop up shops and private sales. I have kept many clients there since my beginnings in fashion and I love to come back to this city, it treats me with so much affection, last November 2021 I had the pleasure to show my creations that debuted in “Murcia Mediterranean Pedestrian Bridge”a catwalk that surprised me because of the professionalism with which its directors, Natalia Torres and Marta Abellán, have been organizing for years.

And although they were forced to “break the pandemic”, they have been able to strongly resume this event that I was so pleased with. The experience that was worth it.

Therefore, 6 months later, I returned to show my new collection “Stendal” in the spectacular Hall of Mirrors of the Romea Theater. I should point out that I got photons backstage as the space was amazing, I would have been locked in this location for 24 hours shooting my clothes in every corner. I’m putting more and more importance on this kind of ‘making off’ stuff that you love so much, what goes on behind the scenes, so when preparing for a fashion show, the charm of the ‘backstage’ area is so important to me.

Coming back to the event itself, this time in Mediterranean Pedestrian Bridge of Murcia my participation was not a parade to use. I joined forces with “Marax” to showcase my designs through a performance where we could show the audience a detail of what’s to come.

The action titled “Marax fashion meeting with Beatriz Peñalver” It was a hybrid between a virtual and real catwalkWhile the models walked among the audience, the clothes were simultaneously projected on a screen in virtual format. To complete the action, there were also 3 mannequins dressed in digital clothing in map mode. The garments came to life in two worlds in the same parade, achieving a magical atmosphere in which the aim was to wrap the viewer between parallel realities.

Marax is a 3D design and virtual reality platform specialized in fashion brandsa concept that is gaining momentum in our country with important sustainable connotations.

In addition, I loved meeting two of the founders, Almudena and Mar, in person, with whom I could share the evening and exchange impressions as we sampled the rich Murcian signature cuisine at “The Agus”.

More and more brands are joining this digital tool to show a very realistic vision of the design of pieces that have not yet been manufactured, sold under “pre-order”, where the consumer can see or try on the garments digitally without having to travel. † can even be seen with personalized creations before they are made, to avoid future disappointments and to be able to make a more accurate decision on the chosen piece, it is also important to emphasize the saving of resources, with less risk and above all a more responsible production with less waste, because it is virtually on demand.

Without a doubt, I declare myself a fan of these initiatives and I can already think of a thousand ways to take advantage of my virtual garments. Many thanks to Murcia Mediterranean gateway for having Beatriz Peñalver and congratulations Marax for the project.
