Special: Jay Levin is stepping down as chief strategy officer and vice president of commercial operations at Warner Bros. The famous executive worked at the studio for 13 years before his role was reduced after the studio merged with Discovery.
The respected studio veteran quickly rose to become CEO under Anne Sarnoff, joining the corporate team led by Barry Meyer and Kevin Tsujihara. Levine oversaw strategy and operations for WB Pictures Group, HBO and HBO Max Programming, WB Television Group, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, WB Animation, TBS, TNT, DC, Consumer Products, Global Brands and WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group. Experience and other traditional and digital content businesses.
Levine has worked closely with top creative departments in development, production, finance, business, marketing and distribution, including WB Pictures’ Toby Emerich, HBO’s Casey Bloe, and WBTV’s HBO Max and Channing Dunge.
Levin also oversaw the Corporate Business Development and Strategy Group, which led all mergers and acquisitions, strategic investments and divestments for the studio and network group, including the sale of TMZ to Fox in 2021. He was responsible for overseeing new partnerships with key talent (including LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and Ellen DeGeneres) and developed new story formats and next-generation content businesses using global brands and IP (such as VR and NFT). Levin also directed the World Bank’s involvement in The CW Network and has served on its board of directors for the past four years.
For the past two years, Levin has taken charge of the company’s owned and managed tour and retail experience in Burbank and Leavesden, UK, as well as Worldwide Studio Operations Group, which manages all production and post-production facilities. Led by Levin, the group is the world’s largest virtual manufacturing facility, Warner Bros. He created an impressive Harry Potter retail experience by building Studios in Leavesden and reopened a new facility in Burbank Lot.
Warner Bros. Prior to joining the TV Group in 2009, Levine worked for The Walt Disney Company, Corporate Strategy and Business Development Group, and ESPN. A graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Levin began his career at Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc.
