In 2005, the world discovered the face of Robert Pattinson in the role of the unforgettable Cedric Diggory. If this entry into the world of cinema is sensational, it is however only the second attempt by the British actor.
Robert Pattinson was cut while editing his first film
A few months earlier, at just 15 years old, Robert Pattinson had been cast alongside Reese Witherspoon in the historical drama Vanity Fair: The vanity fairby Mira Naïr.
However, if you decide to see the film, don’t expect to see Robert Pattinson’s face. The latter simply was cut from the edit… without anyone notifying them. “I went to the premiere and no one told me I had been cut in the editing » he confided W magazine years later, in 2017 (is it time, perhaps, to digest this trauma?)
Impressed, Robert Pattinson held the wand like “a gun in Die Hard”
In the same interview, Robert Pattinson said he got the role specifically inHarry Potter thanks to Mary Selway, the casting director by Vanity Fair. Consumed by guilt after the young actor’s ouster, the latter would have arranged as followswill have a priority audition for the role of Diggory. In another interview with QRobert Pattinson, who surely surprises us with his delightful second Bachelor, says he was left disoriented by the fictional world ofHarry Potter and all the magic it contains:
“ One of the first scenes I shot was in the magical labyrinth at the end. I had never done anything with special effects, stunts. It was very intimidating to me at the time.
I remember a scene where I had to wave the magic wand and I thought I was so stupid I started holding it with both hands like it was a gun. A bit like I was inside Die Hard. »

After Harry Potter, Robert Pattinson joined Twilight thanks to a Valium pill
True to himself, Robert Pattinson continued to let himself be guided by his choices quite incredible : after living for a certain period on the salary earned on the set ofHarry Potter, the actor saw himself continuing in music. In the interview for Qtell :
“ At the time, I more saw myself making music. I don’t know why I thought that. Because no one believed it. But I was constantly shooting open scenes. And one day I found myself completely broken. »
Caught by surprise by his financial problems, he finally decides to be cast in a small vampire film whose name will surely sound familiar: Dusk. However, as the casting approaches, the actor is overcome by such anxiety at the idea of failing that his agent advises him to accept a Valium pill. Robert Pattinson then confided that, according to him, his nonchalant expression (caused by the tranquilizer) he convinced the producers to give him the role of Edward. From now on, we know the REAL history behind his very pale complexion.
