It was not stated to whose house he took the beloved “woman”. However, it is known that this is the second largest sale of a Picasso painting. The most expensive Picasso work sold at auction was a painting from the “Algerian Women” series. They paid 179 million dollars (16,503,317,416 rubles) for this.

Sotheby’s website also reports that the auctioneer received the right to dispose of the canvas after the death of the former owner of this masterpiece, collector Emily Fischer Landau. The painting hung above the mantelpiece in the old woman’s apartment for more than half a century.

The canvas depicts Picasso’s beloved Marie-Therese Walter with a wristwatch. They say that the artist had an affair with her while he was married.
