After a long battle on the part of people with disabilities, the deconjugalisation of the allowance for disabled adults was voted on in August 2022. Entered into force on 1um October will be granted to 80,000 new beneficiaries.

This was a long-awaited reform for people with disabilities. Voted in August 2022, after a long tug-of-war with the government, as well as a long awareness campaign conducted by activists and associations, this Sunday 1um October, the deconjugation of disabled adults’ allowance (AAH) has entered into force.

From now on, the incomes of spouses of people with disabilities will no longer be taken into account in the calculation of this allowance paid each month. This could lead to the reduction, or even elimination, of this amount, depending on the spouse’s salary, and therefore contribute to creating a sort of financial dependence.

80,000 more beneficiaries

Thanks to this reform, they are 40,000 people who should see their benefits increase. While 80,000 more people can now benefit from it. They will influence approximately 370 euros per month on average, according to government data.

Another measure requested by people with disabilities: no current beneficiary, whether in a couple or single, will see their allowance reduced: “ Or his allowance remains unchangedor her increase »the ministry responsible for disabled people assured theFrench media agency.

However, this deconjugation of the AHH could result in a decrease in revenue of approx 30,000 people. But for these the ministry provides for the maintenance of a marital calculation, assures the competent ministry for people with disabilities: «As long as this one is favorable ».

Most of the new calculations will affect payments starting in November. No action it must not be carried out by the beneficiaries.
