From Sunday 1 October, the 4,322 workers in the Lyon metropolitan area will benefit from menstrual leave and leave in the event of natural termination of pregnancy.
Two days of menstrual leave upon presentation of a medical certificate
The community had made the promise a few days earlier. Here it is in force: since yesterday, Sunday 1 October, female agents on the mainland benefit from two days of leave in case of painful periods. Presented as a “Extraordinary permission “, the leave will be granted on “presentation of a medical certificate issued by the gynecologist or attending physician certifying a pathology that causes painful menstruation » Details the city in a press release. Since 2020 it has been led by environmentalists, allies of the left.
And that’s not all: all menstruating workers are also entitled to a ” leave for natural termination of pregnancy », that is, two days of rest for them and their spouse. It will be possible to install it once or twice, within three months of the events.
If in Spain menstrual leave has been in force since January, in France the various legislative proposals on the matter have all been rejected, leaving room for individual and local initiatives.
From 1 January 2024, patients who find themselves having to face a natural termination of pregnancy will be able to obtain sick leave without a waiting day and will benefit, from September, from specific psychological support.
