The Book of Solutions, what is it about?
Marc flees with his entire team to a small village in the Cévennes to finish the film with his aunt Denise. On site, his creativity manifests itself in a million ideas that throw him into a strange chaos.
To try to contain it, he begins to write the “Book of Solutions”, a practical guide to advice which could be the solution to all your problems…
Inspiration is everywhere
In Michel Gondry’s film, he closed them imagination, sense of attention and some resourcefulness they are wide open. He makes the film funny, but also touching thanks to the way he evokes the elevator emotional what it constitutes damaged mental health.
The other strong point of the film is that it doesn’t just revolve around the main character, but focuses on it his bonds with others. While Marc has the tendencies of a mad scientist who just listens to him, the film always places female characters at the centre (an editor, an assistant director, an affectionate aunt) who reminds us that cinema is above all collective workfar from the myth of the brilliant filmmaker who makes his films alone.
What emerges is a crazy, funny and touching comedy, which is the meeting point feel good at the cinema this week.
