Telemundo enters into a co-written agreement with the Turkish Telenovela specialist Inter Medya

Telemundo has signed a multi-year co-production agreement with the Turkish production and distribution company Inter Medya. The pair plan to leverage the success of Turkish telenovela formats to rework Hispanic audiences in the United States and co-create several scripts for the Telemundo network.

Telemundo has been successful in several dramas created by Turkey in recent years and today’s deal “pushes the power of Turkish storytelling into the US-Spanish market exclusively with Telemundo,” said Karen Baroeta, executive vice president of Telemundo Satelis. “The combination of the power and appeal of Turkish ownership with Telemundo’s high production capacity further strengthens our position as a leading producer of premium scripted content.”

Inter Medya is one of the best-known Turkish producers and distributors, including one who has established that the country has been one of the leading developers and sellers of high-end soap opera formats globally for the past decade.

The list of co-production partners written in the Telemundo Studios script includes Globo from Brazil, Movistar from Spain, Caracol from Colombia and Sony Latin America, among others.
