AMC Networks Appoints Len Fogge Head of Marketing, Adds International Oversight to Streaming Chief Miquel Penella’s Portfolio

AMC Networks has appointed industry veteran Len Fogg as its chief marketing officer and has also expanded the powers of broadcast chief Miguel Penela, who will now also oversee the company’s international portfolio.

Both executives will report to AMC Networks interim CEO Matt Blanc.

As president of marketing, Fogg will lead the global branding and marketing strategy, including AMC Networks’ domestic and international portfolio of performance marketing, creativity and social entertainment brands. In addition to established line channels like AMC, BBC America, and IFC, the list also includes streaming channels like AMC +, Acorn TV, and Shudder.

Penela, who led the company’s niche broadcast strategy, will now also lead AMC Networks International, which covers more than 125 countries.

In its most recent quarterly report, the company said it had 9.5 million streaming subscribers as of March 31 and remains on track to meet its goal of $ 20 million to $ 25 million by 2025.

“As we develop our differentiated targeted broadcast strategy and continue to oversee our legacy and deliver great premium content, I will be more than happy to have Lenny and Michael in these lead roles,” said Blank. “I have been working with Len at Showtime for many years and no one is better when it comes to promoting brands and putting customer experience first. Our broadcast business flourished during Mikel’s time, and with this expanded new role, our broadcast and international operations will be more aligned, allowing us to accelerate our growth.

Fogg consulted with AMC Networks, who helped him generate strong revenue for the final season of Better Call Saul, generating more AMC + subscriptions than other previews of the original series. The executive was previously president of marketing and creative marketing, research and digital at NBC Entertainment and EVP at Showtime Networks.

Prior to joining AMC Networks, Penela was CEO of RLJ Entertainment, which was acquired by AMC Networks.

Dove created Acorn TV subscription services, known for its high-quality British and international mysteries and dramas, and UMC (now ALLBLK), the first and largest subscription streaming service dedicated to black movies and television.
