If “youtubeur”, “influencer” or “content creator” appear as new professions that make more and more young people dream, many forget that these are not careers incompatible with studies. This is exactly what @assiarabian is trying to promote on her Instagram account and especially on her YouTube channel!
The young Frenchwoman explains especially in detail her career as a student (Baccalaureate in fashion trades followed by a BTS in the same field), and her passion for oriental clothing and languages. Having just moved to South Korea, she tells us about her YouTube adventure, which began in 2019.
Assyarabian interview
To miss. Do you want to introduce yourself?
Asia. I am 21 years old, I live in South Korea and I am a student. I would describe my channel content as a reflection of myself: I approach things my way, I share my lifestyle and fashion trends that I like.
What prompted you to start using YouTube?
I wanted to get started on YouTube because when I was younger I could only identify with English speaking YouTubers much older than me. I told myself that many young people were perhaps right for me. Being passionate about creating content, I wanted to bring something to France on this platform.

What makes you occupy a unique place there today, in your opinion?
I would say that maybe it’s because I try as much as possible to approach things without filters, and in the most sincere way possible.
What is your relationship with fashion, your body and your image?
The more I evolve, the more I try to have an ecological and intimate, sentimental relationship with fashion. I like to wear clothes from brands that touch me or capture my attention with the artistic direction and the universe that is created around it. Brands that highlight my different styles more, while still being comfortable.
What is your most proud YouTube video to date?
This is the lookbook in collaboration with my friends (LookBook back to school 2020 ft. my friends): I had a lot of fun highlighting them and their personalities! I wanted as many people as possible to identify themselves in terms of style and body type.

Has the pandemic changed your relationship with YouTube and fashion?
During this pandemic, I have been very affected – as have many people, I believe – in terms of my pace of life and mental health. I also prepared for my expat in South Korea which meant I didn’t have much time to focus on creating content on YouTube. Also fashion-wise, the lack of releases and lack of budget have meant that my wardrobe has barely budged an inch this year! (laughs)
If you could change one thing in the fashion industry, what would it be?
False “inclusivity”. Use an apparently “inclusive” communication with models “for all” / racialized models without asking the opinion of the people directly involved in the design of the garment. For example, don’t hire Muslim people, but create clothes that fit their values. We monetize a clientele without involving them in a collection, it’s something that irritates me a bit…

What is the brand in which you recognize yourself the most at the moment?
Ultimately it is GENTLE MONSTER. The art direction and design of their eyewear is amazing! I particularly recognize myself in it because I like the way we manage to push the creative side to the limit even for “just a pair of glasses”. It is precisely this way of doing things that I would like to explore in all aspects of my life: give my best!
What style/fashion advice would you like to give people?
My rule is that there are no rules in style. Put what you like and what reflects you as much as possible!
Is there a French fashion channel you would like to recommend?
Sure: BlackMorocchino! ♥
