Aaron Carter’s cause of death announced

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has released Aaron Carter’s cause of death. According to Deadline’s autopsy report (read here), the singer drowned in his bathtub after inhaling difluoroethane, a flammable gas often used as a propellant in compressed air canisters, and taking alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax. The manner of death was officially determined at random.

According to the National Institutes of Health, difluoroethane (DFE) is a readily available and inexpensive volatile substance that can be inhaled recreationally.

The autopsy report also found that Carter had no “life-threatening traumatic injuries” at the time of his death. He was pronounced dead instantly.

Carter was found dead in his bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California on November 5, 2022. He was 34.

Carter first gained attention in the late 1990s when he released a self-titled album in 1997 at the age of 9, which sold 1 million copies worldwide. It set the tone Aaron’s feast (come get it) in 2000, which sold 3 million copies in the US. He became a teen idol, toured with the Backstreet Boys (his brother Nick was a member of the group) and appeared regularly on Nickelodeon.

his next album Oh Aaron, also sold 1 million copies. In 2002 he released his fourth album, in 2003 a greatest hits collection.

Carter was also a guest on television Dance with the stars, appeared in the Broadway musical Seussian and the Off-Broadway revival of The fantastic. He and his siblings also starred in a reality show, Carter’s housefrom October to November 2006 on E! aired.
