ITV Studios has launched a global partnership unit combining formats and finished tapes, led by newly promoted Ruth Berry, who outlined her new role, the acquisition of Plimsoll and the possibilities of FAST.
Berry said the move to rebrand Global Distribution and Global Entertainment “is indicative of the inspiration for us to collaborate in broader and deeper ways with more content in our portfolio.”
“There’s quite a bit of overlap with our customers looking at both formats and scripts,” Berry told Mip TV.
“Bringing it all together allows us to really focus these conversations and see how we can leverage the breadth and scope of our portfolio with the needs of our buyers.”
Berry, who now oversees a 90,000-strong catalog spanning more than 250 formats, took over the newly combined finished tape/format role late last year, when Arjan Pomper left the company. Soon after, Alex Pumfrey, former chief executive of Film and TV Charity, joined ITV to work with broadcasters, streamers and telecoms giants.

Regarding this acquisition, Grant Mansfield, CEO of Plimsoll, said in the Mip-TV session that the company has two major international projects for ITV “in the future”.
As one of Mip TV’s keynotes, Berry also spoke about ITV Studios’ position in the FAST and AVOD space, which she described as a ‘really interesting world’, pointing to new channels for programs such as: Come eat with me, Hell’s Kitchen And River sample.
She said the distributor’s new ability to collect viewership data had “opened a Pandora’s box” and had an impact on business decisions.
