M88 signs Erica Watson, director of The Dropout and Snowpiercer

EXCLUSIVE: M88 announced on Tuesday that it has hired prestigious director Erica Watson to run it.

Watson is best known for directing the penultimate and final episodes of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Hulu miniseries The Fallout, which chronicles the rise and fall of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes (Amanda Seyfried). She recently directed two episodes of the epic drama series King Shakaproduced by Antoine Fuqua for CBS Studios, which is now likely to be bought after being fired from Showtime.

Watson is also known for directing two episodes of snow piercing for TNT/Tomorrow Studios, along with one half of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s David makes people for OWN/HBO MAX. She has also previously assisted on episodes of manifest, Power Book III: Raise Kanan, gossip girl, Everyone stands up, Power Book II: Spirit, For life, All Americans, The L Word: Generation Q, claws And krypton among other series.

Watson, an associate director for Film Independent’s Project Involve, graduated from the Sony Diversity Directing Program and was an artist at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015. She was selected to receive the Sundance Knight Fellowship that same year after being in 2014 received her MFA. from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.

Watson’s short film Roubado has been screened at more than film festivals around the world. She is still repped by Priya Verma in Yorn, Levine, Barnes.

Founded in 2020 by former WME partner Phillip Sun and Macro founder and CEO Charles D. King, M88 represents storytellers, actors, writers and multi-hyphenates.
