Los Angeles Unified School District employees have officially agreed to a new agreement that will increase wages by 30%.
The agreement was confirmed in a vote this week after a three-day strike closed the school in the nation’s largest system in March.
The contract must be approved by the district board of education, which will likely vote on it at its April 18 meeting.
In addition to the salary increase, the deal includes a $1,000 bonus for employees who worked during the COVID-19 pandemic and comprehensive family health care.
The Service Employees International Union Local 99 (SEIU) represents 30,000 service workers in the Los Angeles Unified School District. During the three-day strike, teachers joined the service workers.
