Sharon Stone admits to being abused while filming ‘Basic Instinct’

The movie Basic Instinct was released in 1992. Sharon Stone was cast in the movie, but the actress was only the 13th contender for the role. Before that, director Paul Verhoeven tried to recruit Julia Roberts, Demi Moore, Michelle Pfeiffer and Meg Ryan for filming. However, they rejected it due to excessively suggestive sex scenes. Sharon talked about the shooting of the movie.

During her speech at the NYWIFT Muse Awards, Stone explained how a producer called her “Karen” (a slang term to describe a demanding and contradictory woman – Approx. Ed.). “I got the role after nine months of auditioning, after 13 other women turned it down. Throughout the movie, the producer named me Karen, so shocked when I got to my first audition that I drove my car into a semi-trailer,” says the actress.
