Federation Studios has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the French political comedy winner Series Mania Under control.
The six-part series won the prize for best series in the French category at last week’s festival in Lille. Federation that had Bardot And Six women to compete the same price will now bring it to the international market.
It follows Marie Tessier, a 45-year-old director of the fictional NGO Doctors of the World, who is appointed foreign minister for France when five Europeans, including two French, are taken hostage by terrorists in the Sahel. She immediately goes rogue as she struggles to appear as if everything is under control.
The show is produced by Ex Nihilo and written by Charly Delward in collaboration with Erwan Le Duc and César-nominated Benjamin Charbit. The cast includes Lea Drucker (war of the worlds, The desk), Samir Guesmi (Spiral, The Return) and Laurent Stocker.
In France it will be launched on Arte and talks are underway to expand elsewhere.
Other Mania Series winners included the winner of the International Competition The actor of Iran and Black water from Sweden, who took home the International Panorama Gong. Other winners included Michael Sheen, Ernesto Contreras, Margot Bancilhon and John Kâre Raake.
