Vince McMahon pays .4 million to WWE board of directors in sexual misconduct investigation

In another move to reclaim his World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) empire, executive chairman Vince McMahon has filed new filings with the SEC.

In the filings, McMahon said he would reimburse the public company $17.4 million for costs related to a board committee investigation into allegations of his sexual misconduct. The submission was made on Thursday and covers a period up to and including 31 January this year. McMahon also promised to cover any additional costs after that date.

McMahon returned to the board after resigning last July amid allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity, which were first reported by the Wall St. Journal reported. The company reportedly paid a total of $12 million to various people over a 16-year period.

The brash McMahon resigned from the organization when the allegations came to light, but recently made a controversial comeback that drew criticism from its board and shareholders, among others.

WWE is now considering several rights deals, including a possible outright sale of the company.
