The wonderful thing about teas and infusions is that they adapt to all situations. A hoarse throat? A thyme herbal tea and you’re done. A cold snap? Nothing a good chai can’t fix. Do you need energy? An Earl Gray is a good start to the day.
It is also available as an aperitif, with the graceful name of “TeaTail” (contraction of tea and cocktail). The proof of three original recipes collected from Instagram.
The Gray Lady
Warning for citrus lovers: what could be better than this elegant cocktail to enjoy the last rays of the day? Orange is consumed from December to April, Lady Gray is the perfect transition to welcome spring.

Lady Grey’s ingredients
- Gin 5cl
- 1cl lemon juice
- 1cl rose syrup
- Tonic 2cl
- British Earl Gray flavored black tea bergamot flavour
- 1 slice of orange for garnish
- Ice cube mold
This cocktail requires a little advance: the day before, boil the water and let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes. Leave to cool, then pour into ice cube molds and place in the freezer. In parallel, conventional ice cubes are provided, in water.
The next day: Put the gin, lemon juice and rose syrup in a cocktail shaker and shake. Pour into a glass filled with 2/3 Earl Gray ice cubes and 1/3 ice cubes water. Top up with tonic and serve in a tall cocktail glass. Tasting time!
Note that there is a variation of this cocktail, the Earl Gray Mar-tea-ni (have you got it?). The idea is simple: just replace the tonic and the orange slice with an egg white. Shake well and let the magic happen.
The Matchajito
A sort of revisited Mojito, this cocktail has herbaceous notes that will delight Matcha fans.

Matchajito Ingredients
- 8 mint leaves
- 30 ml of lime juice
- 1 teaspoon of matcha tea
- 110ml of water
- 30ml of white rum or gin
- 60 ml of sparkling water
- Ice cubes
The trick? Use a pestle to mix and bring out the flavors. On the presentation side, you can decorate the rim of the glass with matcha powder for a sophisticated touch.
Lychee time
Another winter fruit. It is true, therefore, that the season ends rather in February… Fortunately, lychee juice or nectar will do the trick. Preferably, white rose tea is chosen as the basis for this delicate cocktail. Serve cold!
