NGO Doctors of the World launches writing contest to expose health barriers

Since 1980, the Médecins du Monde association has been fighting tirelessly to make a more equitable health system accessible to all. Through field actions, political advocacy and awareness campaignsit acts both in France and in 30 countries around the world, with the most vulnerable populations.

To extend his action and share his struggles with the public, he is creating this year a writing contest put words to evils. The most beautiful texts will be selected by a jury and pronounced by personalities during a event organized by the NGO: the feast of the Great Evils.

A writing contest on the ills of society

Doctors of the World’s mission is improve access to care and health rights for all, work to make society more equitable and inclusive. The NGO’s writing contest invites everyone to take up the pen to put on paper the struggles and actions that make up the militant identity of the association.

We denounce the obstacles to health, we defend a united world where everyone will have access to the right to health, here and there.

Doctors of the World

This writing contest creative and busy it aims to highlight the struggles of the association through the words of the participants who feel inspired by the struggle for social justice. They are invited to comment on five priority actions of Médecins du Monde: sexual and reproductive health; risk reduction; rights and health of migrants; emergencies and crises; the impact of the environment on health.

Each of these five pivotal fights will be a source of information and inspiration for all who want to try their luck.

How to participate in the writing competition?

From 2 February 2023, The contest is open to anyone over the age of 16 who can (or cannot) write. The theme of this first edition is ” Heal injustice “.

Four categories of written expression are proposed, all very different:

• songs
• Poetry
• New
• Text of eloquence (manifesto, open letter, etc.)

To submit your literary creations and participate in the competition, simply download the competition announcement from the Festival des Gros Maux website and send your texts to the address: [email protected]. Technical details relating to the format of the texts can be found in the competition rules.

You have until May 15 to participate., the closing date of the competition. Until then, you just have to let your imagination run wild, let your creative soul speak and write. To fight inequality, words are a powerful weapon.

The winner of the competition will see his text broadcast on the Médecins du Monde communication channels, and will be able to meet the celebrity who will interpret it at the beginning of November, during the new NGO event.

The Big Evils festival will take place from November 3 to 5

The highlight of this writing contest, the feast of the Great Evils is the new unmissable appointment of Doctors of the World. Free, open to all, Les Gros Maux is an urban art festival which aims to denounce the ills from which our society suffers.

The best texts will be presented during a scene of eloquence, the highlight of this artistic, social and militant meeting that gives pride of place to art in multiple forms, such as street art and performances. Ten of them will be selected to be read by a jury of celebrities (journalists, actors, singers, etc.) in front of the festival audience on the evening of November 4th. Destined to be repeated every year, this first edition of the Gross Maux festival will take place in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, at the Ground Control space.

Being an activist means reclaiming the destiny of our society, defending causes that are useful for the common good.
