Man found alive nine years after cremation

An elderly man has reportedly been found alive nine years after his family believed they cremated him following a car crash.

Zhuo Kangluo, who was found “dead” by the side of the road after fleeing a Chinese nursing home, has reportedly turned up alive in a village.

According to China News Network, Chongqing authorities first received a message from a man behaving strangely in August.

Officials initially struggled to identify the man as he refused to answer questions, but a DNA test on Tuesday reportedly matched Zhuo Kangluo’s brother.

Nine years ago, a man who died in a car accident was mistakenly identified as Zhuo by family and villagers.

The body was cremated after his cousin reportedly refused an autopsy and no DNA tests were available for immediate family members.

The man’s resemblance would also be recognized by Zhuo’s grandson when he looked at a missing persons poster.

The man apparently burst into tears during one visit and was also able to spell his family’s names correctly.

Authorities are said to be trying to identify the man who was mistaken for Zhuo in 2014.

Zhuo was taken care of after his return.
