Writing feminicides and violence against women

“Feminicides: five dead in one week, in general indifference” titled a few days ago Mediapart, warning of a terrible reality: between 7 and 14 February 2023 five women were found dead in France. In all five cases, the spouse or ex-spouse was implicated in the investigation. In the last fifteen years, 2,000 women have been victims of marital femicide.

Although these figures are known, and despite the colossal work done by feminist associations and activists to highlight the topic, the count does not reduce. In the media world, the issue of feminicides is still too often treated under the aegis prism of news, far from a political and structural understanding violence against women. How do we talk about feminicide today, both in the media and in literature and culture? As a feminist author, can writing be a weapon to combat this patriarchal violence? Many questions that we will address through the work of Rose Lamy and Laurene Daycard.
