Beautiful leathers and recycled mountaineering ropes form these fantastic bags made in Paris

Difficult, difficult, to find a good quality leather bag without spending a fortune. And at this price, it’s best not to get tired of it. But the young designer Alexandre Samson offers models that are accessible, customizable, durable and made in Paris, with his brand ASZPAK. Express portrait.

Are you really a designer if you haven’t launched your own line of recycled pieces? The ASZPAK brand confirms the style rule with its responsible leather goods founded in Paris in March 2020 by Alexandre Samson and poised to become essential by 2023.

Who is Alexandre Samson, the creator of the ASZPAK brand?

She followed a refresher course in applied arts, before studying textile and environmental fashion design at the prestigious Duperré school in Paris, then the national conservatory of arts and crafts (CNAM). You then cut your teeth with very reserved designers, at the crossroads of art, clothing and textiles, such as Sandrine Philippe and Anaïs Guery, and more mainstream brands such as IKKS. It is in October 2019 that Alexandre Samson begins to lay the foundations for what will soon become his brand, ASZPAK.

ASZPAK, bags that recycle the best mountaineering leathers and ropes

This is characterized by its minimalist and nonconformist aesthetic, inspired by the digital culture of the 2000s. Hence the impression we can have of seeing a shape of a traditional baguette bag mixed with a Playstation controller for its flagship model, the Aszbaguette. While the Cassette model could evoke the VHS that under 20s may not know. The latest addition, the Asztube, and the more conventionally square format of the Aszbag complete the collection.

In addition to the recycled leathers, it is above all the tubular handles with pop and interchangeable colors that make the difference: they are the scraps of large nylon mountaineering ropes (therefore overcycling even at this level). Something to add a technological dimension of survival (not to mention hiking in the mountains), in tune with the times, to ASZPAK. Perfect mix of Y2K codes and gorpcore without overdoing it to remain timeless, the brand also allows itself the luxury of offering relatively affordable prices for designer leather goods (from € 149). In short, the case is in the bag.
