Updated with approval and expiration notes: Sources said MGM Cinema Group President Michael de Luca and President Pam Abdi will be leaving the studio. This was followed by Amazon’s acquisition of the studio.
Studies Warner Bros. As Discovery (which was recently the landing place for De Luca and Abdi) takes place at partner studios, development prospects have shed light on how Amazon will consolidate the venerable MGM’s assets after it paid $8.45 billion on Amazon. to the studio and its library of 4,000 names. De Luca was said to be doing many other jobs, but he had a contract that expired early next year. Now that they’ve been released, they’ll be able to take advantage of one of the deals. MGM is expected to operate on Amazon as a theatrical recording and are looking to hire a new supervisor to run this studio. This scenario will support the Distributor position, led by United Artists Releasing, Eric Lomis and Gary Ritchie, who oversaw the launch. no time to die, gucci house, dog, sirano, respect, adams family Y human anger. This company co-owns Annapurna, but there’s a reason it’s owned by Amazon and continues to sell theatrical releases and MGM tickets.
He and Abdi spent most of their time at MGM, regularly fighting for big star packs and distributing some of them. including Ave Maria Projectadaptation სიArsian Written by Andy Weir, starring Ryan Gosling, and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Returning to his days on New Line and continuing at Sony until he became a producer at Universal, De Luca began raising a fund of art cinema filmmakers. it was the first offer licorice pizza by Paul Thomas Anderson boogie night Y Magnolia With De Luca in those salad days.

The open question was whether De Luca and Abdi would take over the imaging business at Amazon, as they did at MGM, if they reported to Jennifer Salke, who directed TV and film director Julie Rapaport. As is often the case, the choice falls to the incumbent monarch. Despite the dazzling stories of De Luca and Abdi, who give the impression that they’ve come to direct the film program, Amazon and Salke seem to have stayed true to their teams, and MGM’s biggest benefit is the library. Part of the James Bond franchise, it’s unlikely that the producers of the latter would award the award to a theatrical performance and bring the franchise to air.
There are rumors that De Luca and Abdi wanted MGM to remain as an independent film studio on Amazon, something the new owners did not want to give in. When De Luca returned to management, he had a strong production job and was on good terms with talent. It will be interesting to see where it lands next, which will likely be in Abdi’s tandem.
The story unfolds. For now, here are some internal messages from De Luca and Abdi and Mike Hopkins of SVP Prime Video & Amazon Studios:
ᲫDear colleagues,
A little over two years ago, we came to MGM to help restore the vitality of the last century among historic studios, and we are proud to say that this mission has been accomplished thanks to all of you and your efforts. We have achieved our goal and looking ahead, we think now is the right time to move forward and explore our next chapter and challenge. This summer we will put down our papers. We are confident that the exciting vision of Prime Video and Amazon Studios for MGM, and the organization Mike Hopkins created with Jennifer Salke and her team, will ensure MGM’s continued success.
Since arriving in early 2020, we’ve had the opportunity to rapidly revive and expand MGM’s film roster, creating a home for the world’s best storytellers to make films for a global audience. We could not have imagined that soon after our arrival, the world would be hit by a pandemic that would dramatically shut down our industry, and the various immediate and long-term challenges that a pandemic would bring before us.
With the support of every member of the MGM production team and our partners by our side, we were able to remake and ultimately bring a deep return to films, including films by Ridley Scott and Paul Thomas Anderson. Joe Wright, Channing Tatum and Raid Carolyn, Ron Howard, George Miller, Billy Porter, Sarah Paul, Chinonie Chukwu, Corey Finley, Zack Braffy, George Clooney, Michael B. Jordan, Emma Seligman, Luca Guadanino, Zoe Kravitz, Rachel Morrison and much more, it aims to create a series of films that appeal to audiences of all genres. Our list includes several films that Orion Pictures re-released in August 2020 under the direction of Alana Mayo. .
It has been our honor and privilege to lead a revitalized studio that has hosted a release date with our partners at Eon for Daniel Craig’s latest release as James Bond, seeing the film become one of the highest-grossing films of 2021. . ; At the same time, the studio received eight Oscars and seventeen BAFTA nominations, while Licorice Pizza has won the Academy Award for Best Picture in more than three decades.
You, our colleagues and all our managers at UAR and Universal made everything possible and we are so grateful to be part of such a great team. We are also grateful to Kevin Ulrich and everyone at Anchorage Capital and Chris Brearton for joining us and wishing Prime Video, Amazon Studios and MGM the best of luck.
To be honest,
Michael deLuca and Pam Abdi

Good morning peace team!
As you’ve probably just read, Mike and Pam have decided to leave MGM to pursue their next career. I know you’ll join me in thanking you for your leadership as we work with each of you to bring an engaging story to audiences around the world. We wish you both success.
As I said at City Hall in March, raising a quality narrative of MGM’s legacy is a top priority. MGM has become the home of some truly great storytellers. And this house will only grow as we invest and work together to craft an even bigger list of theaters for years to come. It takes a great team to do this and the more you know about it, the more impressed you will be with us.
Mike and Pam will leave this summer, allowing us to continue a measured, step-by-step approach to integration with Prime Video and Amazon Studios. Meanwhile, the existing intermediate structure remains in place.
Thank you for all your dedication and commitment as we continue to produce outstanding films and television shows together for a diverse and global audience.
Miguel
