Since Covid, maternity visits are limited and it’s good for the kids!

There is at least one benefit to the Covid epidemic. With the health crisis, maternity visits are often banned. Frustrate those around you, but relax new parents and their babies.

Refusing visits to the maternity ward, fad or survival reflex? As more and more parents refuse to let their loved ones invade their maternity room, some are left with no choice. Covid has left its mark and several large hospitals across France continue to refuse visitors. Frustrating at first, this protocol would still ensure serenity for new parents.

When health protocol limits maternity visits

Three years after the appearance of Covid, the virus is now part of our lives. If we have almost learned to live with it, health protocols have not all disappeared. An article published on Info France last week he tells us that several maternity hospitals in big cities have maintained drastic rules in terms of welcoming visitors. Each structure has the task of establishing its own rules and some authorize only the presence of the co-parent, others also welcome members of the siblings or impose a number limit or restricted visiting hours.

This initially strict rule eventually has benefits for new parents. In the absence of visits, mothers can devote themselves exclusively to their child. The latter benefits enormously from this peaceful climate.

Before, we would often cry until 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. nonstop with many very excited and very upset children. As there are no more visits and the children no longer go from arm to arm, in reality they are only with the parents, it is much quieter at night, for the mothers, with calmer children.

With the health crisis, maternity stays are shorter, but more effective. Entirely dedicated to the discovery of the child, and no longer to welcoming the entourage, they allow parents to tame their newborn in complete tranquility, before returning home more serenely.

While these protocols are temporary, their positive impact on family well-being may encourage maternity units to enforce stricter visitation rules. Parents were thus able to enjoy the best of both worlds, between celebration and tranquillity.
