Lisa Marie Presley will be buried at Graceland, where a public memorial service is planned. The artist and daughter of Elvis Presley died last Thursday, January 12, at the age of 54.
“A memorial service for Lisa Marie Presley is scheduled for Sunday, January 22 at 9:00 a.m. in the front yard of Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. The general public is invited. Please check Graceland.com regularly for more details,” reads the statement on Graceland’s official website.
The website also notes that “in lieu of flowers, the family encourages anyone who wishes to send something to do so in the form of a donation to the Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation.”
Presley was hospitalized last week after suffering cardiac arrest. Hours later, Priscilla Presley confirmed her daughter’s death in a statement to The Associated Press, saying: “It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news that our beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strongest and most loving woman I have ever known.”
The singer-songwriter just attended the Golden Globes to celebrate the film Baz Luhrmann made in honor of her father. Austin Butler won a trophy that night and dedicated his win to both Lisa Marie and Priscilla for helping to embody the iconic star.
After her death, Butler released a statement saying, “My heart is broken for Riley, Finley, Harper and Priscilla over the tragic and unexpected loss of Lisa Marie. I am beyond grateful for the time I was lucky enough to be there to be, to be close to her bright light and cherish the quiet moments we shared forever, her warmth, her love and her authenticity will always be remembered.”
