SAG-AFTRA’s business/educational and non-television agreement was ratified by the Guild’s national executive committee. According to the guild, negotiations were conducted with “the industry negotiating group that traditionally negotiates this agreement”. This treaty did not require a vote of ratification by members.
The Pact includes public relations, promotional and educational films created for primary use by the general public, schools, conventions, seminars, museums, in-store and for Internet use. This includes audio-only content such as telephone messages and audio used in consumer products.
“This is an intelligent agreement that meets the needs of members working in this important area,” said Fran Drescher, President of SAG-AFTRA. “I congratulate the members of the negotiating committee and chief negotiator Ray Rodriguez for their dedication and hard work.”
“I congratulate the National Executive Committee on ratifying this agreement,” said SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland. “Our negotiating committee and our Chief Contracting Officer and Chief Negotiator Ray Rodriguez reached a binding agreement with significant benefits for SAG-AFTRA members.”
According to Guild, highlights of the deal include:
- A 12% increase in the minimum fee from 11 January 2023
- From 11 January 2023, an increase in the employer’s contribution to health and old age insurance by a total of 1.5%
- New Language requires qualified hair and makeup artists with proven experience working with all hair and skin types and addressing an important issue particularly voiced by artists of color
- Limitations on tape and remote live audition requests and specific prohibitions on inappropriate or unsafe requests
