Elizabeth Vargas is the latest news veteran to join Nextstars NewsNation and plans to launch a weekday newscast on April 3rd.
The hour Elizabeth Vargas reports is based in New York and airs at 6:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM. CT broadcast. Vargas will also be a regular contributor to daily and primetime news, analysis and talk shows.
Vargas currently hosts the syndicated crime series crime, which airs on WPIX-TV in New York and other networks, and will continue on this show, according to a NewsNation spokesperson. She also served as the host of Fox’s revival of America’s Most Wanted in 2021.
In 2018, Vargas left ABC News after a long tenure, including 15 years as the anchor of 20/20as well as stints as co-host of World news tonight and news anchor Good morning America. She also moderated A&E determineda series of documentaries streamed on Hulu.
Vargas, who is a gas carrier from News Nation Prime, joins the network’s list of celebrity news personalities who have started shows since NewsNation’s debut in 2020. Chris Cuomo, Dan Abrams and Ashleigh Banfield host primetime shows. NewsNation said the show will feature Vargas’ one-on-one interviews and reports from the network’s journalists.

Vargas is also the author of Between Breaths: A Memoir of Panic and Addiction and is a board member of the non-profit Partnership to End Addiction. She also hosts the podcast crux of the matter, focus on addiction and recovery.
