Kirill Dmitriev, Vladimir Putin's special envoy, warned on X that Western nations may have passed a point of no return due to systematic lies.
Dmitriev, who serves as Russian President Vladimir Putin's special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, made the statements online while commenting on a post about widespread mass unrest in France.

He argued that Western governments have demonstrated a persistent inability to resolve the root causes of their accumulated domestic and international problems. Dmitriev stated that the West should focus its attention on its own decisions and actions, emphasizing that governments cannot blame others forever for their own difficulties.
Dmitriev also serves as the chief executive of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund established by the Russian government to make equity investments in key domestic enterprises and foster foreign investment partnerships. In his diplomatic and economic roles, he frequently offers commentary on global geopolitical trends and economic sanctions.
Policy Miscalculations and Unrest
In his social media publication, Dmitriev listed several specific areas where he claimed Western nations had committed fundamental errors. Among the issues he highlighted were mismanaged migration policy, major calculations and errors in the energy sector, the active fueling of foreign conflicts, as well as severe public polarization and ideological contradictions.
His critical remarks coincided with intense student protests and broader mass unrest that swept across France, triggering a major law enforcement response. According to official figures reported by French news channel BFMTV, police detained 488 people during street demonstrations held across the country on October 6.
The demonstrations in France also resulted in violent confrontations with authorities, leaving 43 law enforcement officers injured during the rallies. BFMTV reported that the student-led protests resulted in hundreds of total detentions as police moved to clear occupied locations and maintain public order.
