Customs officers at Kipoi in Evros stopped 10 tons of illegal freon yesterday. According to well-informed sources, officials seized the shipment after inspecting a truck of Turkish origin driven by a Turkish national.
The cargo was bound for France. According to rough calculations, the value of the product amounts to approximately 900,000 euros.
Duties and taxes on the illegal shipment are estimated at about 300,000 euros.
Court appearance
Authorities brought the arrested driver before the Prosecutor today. He received a deadline to appear before the Investigating Magistrate on Tuesday.
