Khloe Kardashian's new reality series The Girls is staying as it aired, according to the show's producers, who pushed back on fan speculation that episodes were pulled from streaming platforms to be re-edited.
The series, which follows Kardashian's inner circle, temporarily disappeared from streamers after it premiered, prompting fans to speculate online about why. Production company Bunim/Murray, which also made the original run of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, said the disappearance was caused by a technical error, not a creative overhaul.
A TikTok Theory About 'Adjustments'
The speculation began after a fan posted a TikTok video suggesting the creative team may have taken the episodes down to "make some adjustments," pointing specifically to "the lack of confessionals" as something that might be addressed. "I'm speculating and hoping that this could possibly be producers making changes," the user wrote.
Bunim/Murray responded directly to the video to set the record straight. "Hiiii producers here!" the company commented. "That was a glitch with the app…. Not adjustments. It has been fixed."
Cast Members Say Confessionals Were Cut
The rumors picked up steam after cast members Malika Haqq, Khadijah Haqq McCray and Yris Palmer revealed they had filmed confessional interviews for the show but were surprised the clips never made it to air.
"They took our confessionals out," Palmer told Page Six's Virtual Reali-Tea on Aug. 20. The beauty entrepreneur, 36, said she wished her one-on-ones had made the final cut, which dropped on Hulu and Disney+ on Aug. 21.
"There's plenty of times, I'm sure, the things that I've said are going to be taken out of context," Palmer said. "I would love to explain myself, especially as someone who's never been on reality TV before."
Haqq and Haqq McCray, 43-year-old twins who have both previously appeared on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, echoed the sentiment. "I wanted to speak from my side," Haqq said. "If you say something behind your friend's back 'cause she's not in the scene, you kind of want the opportunity."
Malika Haqq's Theory About Khloe's Role
While Haqq said she wasn't sure why their interviews were left out, she offered a theory about why Kardashian, who narrates the season offscreen, may have been given more room to speak for the group instead.
"Khloe is your full-on confessionals for one through six," Haqq said. "You will get it from her perspective, and her visuals, and maybe that is her way of saving us and keeping us clean, I don't know."
Kardashian, who hosts Khloé in Wonder Land, was, in Haqq's view, candid throughout the season regardless. Haqq said she was happy Kardashian was "very honest about how she feels about every last one of us."
E! News said it reached out to Hulu and to Kardashian for comment but had not received a response.
