Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau held hands and shared a passionate kiss during a beach day in Saint-Tropez, France, last Thursday, one year into their relationship.
Perry, 41, wore a cream-colored, strapless, one-piece bathing suit with a tan bucket hat, a coordinating crocheted eyelet cape she draped on and off her shoulders, and cat-eye sunglasses. Trudeau, 54, the former prime minister of Canada, wore navy blue swim trunks with white trim.
The couple were first romantically linked in July 2025 before going Instagram official that December.
Perry's split from Orlando Bloom
Perry split from her ex-fiance Orlando Bloom last year. The pair share daughter Daisy, who turns six later this month. Perry and Bloom confirmed their breakup in July 2025 after weeks of speculation about their relationship status, though they vacationed together with their daughter, amicably, last summer.
Perry and Bloom began dating in 2016 and got engaged on Valentine's Day 2019. Amid news of their breakup, representatives for the pair told the Daily Mail they had "been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting."
"They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is, and always will be, raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect," the representatives said.
Red carpet debut and 'in love'
Perry and Trudeau made their red carpet debut at the 25th Annual Tribeca Festival in June 2026, attending the premiere of the concert film Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour, Live from Paris. Perry spoke about her relationship at the event, telling People, "I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life."
"I am very in love. And actually, that show was after I met the love of my life and so I felt very anchored by that because I'm a little bit like a rainbow kite," she said.
Trudeau's family and Xavier's approval
Trudeau served as prime minister of Canada from 2015 to March 2025. He announced his separation from Sophie Gregoire Trudeau in 2023, after 18 years of marriage. The couple share three children: son Xavier, 18, daughter Ella-Grace, 17, and son Hadrien, 12.
Earlier this year, Xavier voiced his approval of his father's high-profile romance with Perry. The teenager, a budding musician, said Perry helps him with his songwriting.
Speaking on the Can't Be Censored podcast, Xavier said: "When I'm really happy with a song I send it to her. She's always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change."
"She's super nice. She's super down to earth. She's great. I think that my dad's happy so that's important," he added.
Xavier said he is used to the attention that comes with his father dating a famous person, having grown up in the public eye. He said seeing a photo of his father with his new girlfriend is "just like any other picture of my dad and my mom. Or just my dad."
Perry's past relationships
Perry was previously married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012. The pair began dating in 2009 and wed in India the following year. Their romance inspired Perry's 2010 album Teenage Dream, while their split two years later led to her breakup anthems Wide Awake and Part of Me.
Perry has also dated musician John Mayer and Travie McCoy, the Gym Class Heroes rapper.
Bloom, meanwhile, has moved on with 28-year-old model Luisa Laemmel. He was previously married to Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares 15-year-old son Flynn.
