Merseyside Police have issued a fresh appeal for information 32 years after 23-year-old Julie Finley was murdered near St Helens. Detectives said people who held information in 1994 may have remained silent out of loyalty or fear, but emphasized that it is never too late to do the right thing.
Finley was strangled, and her naked body was dumped in a carrot field northwest of St Helens in Merseyside. She was last seen at about 23:00 the previous night speaking with an unknown white man, of average height and build and aged 20 to 30, at the back of the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
Detective Inspector Sam Davis said officers know people may have held information about Finley's death that they did not report at the time. He urged anyone with details to come forward, saying one piece of information could be the key to solving the case and bringing the person responsible to justice.
Witness report outside Rainford pub
A witness in 1994 reported seeing a young woman matching Finley's description arguing with a man at about 00:30 on August 6 outside the Wheatsheaf pub in Rainford. That argument took place just 45 meters from where Finley's body was discovered later that same day.
